One of the most desirable species of Tarantula available due to its impressive size, colour and the fact they are not easy to breed.
They have a bright pink starburst carapace that contrasts nicely with its jet black legs and frizzy reddish abdomen.
Xenethis is home to some of the most impressive NW Tarantulas on planet earth. As a genus they grow massive (around 22cm), are super keen feeders and if kept warm and well fed push on quickly, you should expect slings to be about 10cm in around a years time.
Care wise, as slings they do like a little extra moisture than your standard South American but as always is moistening the substrate or adding Spagnham moss to the enclosure good ventilation is key to prevent mould.
These are definately happier at 24-28 degrees which will encourage their fantastic feeding and growth rate… (not a problem this week!)
Observed in the wild in the forests between Bogota and Medellín (Colombia) they also just happen to be pretty stunning…
