This is a moderately large species where adult males are a spectacular deep purple colour overall. Females are much stockier and range from light brown body and legs with a dark abdomen before moulting, to a rich dark velvety black overall when freshly moulted. They come from seasonally dry scrub forest on the central american island of Roatan, where adults are typical burrowers, whist younger ones live under logs and such debris.

They will likely do best in dryer setup. They appear easy to care for at all stages, feeding readily, and based on knowledge of other similar species are expected to grow quickly compared to other new world terrestrials. They would likely make an ideal breeding project, and should be relatively easy to breed
