Phormingochilus everetti is a large arboreal tarantula from the subfamily Ornithoctoninae.

Differing from the typical Cyriopagopus in having very dense femoral fringes which it shares with the Lampropelma genus.

Also sharing with the Lampropelma genus is the very stout front legs in particular in juveniles.

This species is a rich chestnut brown, with dark legs that has beautiful red hairs creating a vivid contrast. The abdomen has the trademark “tiger stripes” of Ornithoctoninae.

As with most Phormingochilus they get big, they grow fast and the phrase defensive is probably underselling it…

A species that requires it moist (would go spiderling box arboreal rather than arboreal keeper on this one) but are fairly sizeable when they hatch out so tend to be fairly robust.

Definitely one that would sit beautifully next to a collection of Poecilotheria
