A rare chance to get adult specimens of this sort after yet rarely available species from western Papua New Guinea. A beautiful species with a sleek velvety black body with a contrasting orange or pink carapace. They are generally less secretive than other asians and are often out in the open. They require a moist substrate 10 – 15cm deep to allow burrowing and increase the humidity. They should be kept around 26°c with a 4°c drop in temperature at night.
Terrestrial Asian species are generally aggressive, when threatened they rear up in a threat display and won’t hesitate to bite anything that gets close. Selenocosmia are however in a league of their own and compressed into 6 inches of pure unimaginably fury, hate and black booties. Not only are they fearlessly aggressive but also exceptionally fast so be careful as they are likely to bite, rough up your cat and turn off your WIFI as they escape under your fridge. Best suited for experienced keepers.
