This species is a tough omnivore that eats insects as readily as leaves, soft fruit and other produce. Its name is almost just right: its spines come from the thorax, not the head. Its worth mentioning they have a singularly high-pitched, ear-piercing call so maybe not something you want to keep in your bedroom.
