Suitability
Awesome species of mantis, these will require a warm environment and a mesh enclosure,
Ideally, the Devil’s Flower Mantis should be kept at a temperature of 35 °C. The temperature can be lowered slightly at nightime.
Nymphs (L1-L3) require some humidity (like most african species they hatch during a rainy season) but this should be reduced greatly once past L3.
Idolomantis tend to be quite skittish and appreciate having somehwere to hide so adding sticks and dry leaves to the enclosure helps them to hide.
They require mesh housing as they struggle to climb glass or plastic.
At L3 – Nymphs will consume fruit flies, after a couple of moults can be moved up to Green Bottle flies.
Crickets should not be used as a food source for mantises.
They will need a fairly constant supply of food (are usually very hungry) and need to feed at least every 2 days.
