Brachypelma auratum is a medium sized tarantula and for some time in the past it was considered to be a ‘highland’ form of B. smithi. But this changed when it was discovered to be a different species. The Mexican Flameknee, as it is commonly called has a red flame shape located on the patella. A white line appears at the joint below the flame. A beautiful Brachypelma species.
