Aphonopelma anax is another great species of American Tarantula let down by an unimaginitve common name.
The coloration of A. anax is mainly tan with dark shades of brown, whereas it’s somewhat similar to a hentzi, the anax is much darker in appearance with more contrast between the lighter carapce and rest of the tarantula.
Whereas they can be skittish (quick) the generally calm nature of this species makes it highly sought after in the hobby.
Being a desert species they are very easy to care and have no delicate requirements and are as pullet proof as a Tarantula gets.
They can be housed in simple terrestrial setup add something to hide under, a heat and a small bowl of water.
They are slow moving and settle down quickly and though they make ideal pet spiders
