Armadillium klugii “Montenegro”

• Isopods require an abundance of decaying leaf litter to thrive.
• Also just as key is cross ventilation in an enclosure.
• They also love a humidity gradient, ie dry on one side and more damp on the other

Really attractive isopod species, featuring a red skirting around the shell and spots on top. Perfect either as pets or if you’re after some clean up crew with a bit more razzmatazz than a springtail.

On a side note, these isopods have proved a great solution to the problem of my 3 year old catching Woodlice and bringing them into the house. I can only guess how long this has been going on undetected but looking at the colony behind the sofa I’d guess at 3 months or so.

Is it just a phase? i doubt it. I never grew out of this one myself.
