Prionotheca coronata occurs in the Middle East, including Egypt where they were worshipped as symbols of divinity. Surgically preserved specimens have been discovered with other treasures in 4000 year old tombs.
They are really easy to keep and long lived for a beetle. The require hot temperatures upto 25-28 C during the day with 20cm sand to burrow in. They feed of vegetables, leafy greens and dog biscuits.
