Lampropelma nigerrimum

This is the real Lampropelma nigerrimum a very rare arboreal species that was presumed extinct until rediscovered in 2007 on Sangihe a small Indonesian Island. This a different species the terrestrial Orange Fringed Ornithoctoninae species found in Borneo that has been incorrectly sold using the same scientific name previously.

This species looks different to the other Lampropelma species and are a chunky middle sized arboreal species with short robust legs and dense hair. They are pure black in colour and the females lack the tiger pattern on the abdomen seen in other Lampropelma’s. They are sexual dimorphic at juvenile size when males turn an orange colour. If you can imagine a spider that looks like Brazilian Black (G.pulchra) that lives in a tree and has a really nasty temper you get an idea of what they are like.
